Thailand is taking another step forward in its energy transition with a new strategic partnership between Sungrow and the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), aimed at advancing large-scale energy storage and green hydrogen deployment.

The collaboration focuses on integrating advanced battery energy storage systems (BESS) and developing green hydrogen capabilities to support Thailand’s growing renewable energy share. As solar and wind penetration increases, energy storage will play a critical role in balancing grid stability, managing intermittency, and ensuring reliable power supply.

In parallel, the partnership highlights green hydrogen as a key future energy vector. By leveraging renewable electricity for hydrogen production via electrolysis, Thailand is positioning itself to decarbonise hard-to-abate sectors such as industry, transportation, and power generation.

Thailand has set a target of achieving 30% renewable energy in its total energy mix by 2036. This initiative aligns with national policy frameworks aimed at reducing carbon emissions and strengthening energy security.

Sungrow will contribute its expertise in energy storage technologies and system integration, while EGAT will support project deployment and grid integration. The collaboration is expected to accelerate infrastructure development, enhance grid resilience, and create new opportunities across the clean energy value chain.

This partnership also reflects a broader regional trend in Southeast Asia, where energy storage and green hydrogen are emerging as critical enablers of the low-carbon transition.
